The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Nasarawa State has sacked Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress and declared Peoples Democratic Party’s David Ombugadu as duly elected governor of the state.

The three-man panel led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, while delivering the judgment via Zoom on Monday ruled in favour of the PDP candidate.

Although a dissenting judgement two of the justices agreed that the election was won by the PDP while one judge disagreed.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the incumbent winner of the election, prompting Ombugadu of the PDP to approach the tribunal.

The tribunal in its ruling stressed that the petitioner was able to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.
It also ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return given to Governor Sule and hand same to Ombugadu.
