Former US President Barack Obama has criticised President Donald Trump over rising living costs, accusing his administration of chaos, corruption and incompetence during campaign rallies in Ohio and Michigan.
Obama, who campaigned on Saturday for Democratic candidates ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, blamed Trump’s decisions, including what he described as an unnecessary war, for worsening economic conditions.
In Ohio, Obama backed former senator Sherrod Brown in his bid to return to the Senate, while in Michigan, he campaigned for Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
He also urged voters to take advantage of early voting.
The midterm elections will determine whether Democrats can regain control of the House of Representatives or the Senate, both currently controlled by Republicans.
Opinion polls suggest Democrats have a chance of winning back the House, while the Senate race is expected to be more competitive.
