Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi says it will be one of the wonders of the century if former President Goodluck Jonathan joins the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contests the party’s presidential ticket.
The Ebonyi state governor stated this on Tuesday while responding to questions from journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“If he decides to join and to run, it will for me, become one of the wonders of this century.
“The reason is that, if you go and see the campaign programmes of APC and you now ask (Mr.) President Jonathan to come and run, I don’t know what would be our campaign promises and what will be the stories we would be telling Nigerians,” he said.
Governor Umahi recalled the prominent role President Jonathan and his wife played in his emergence as Ebonyi State governor and said he believed the former president’s denial of the knowledge of the APC forms bought for him.
“I believe strongly that he was not aware of the form and I want to believe that people that are mischievous would have bought the forms to embarrass him.”
A coalition of Northern groups had purchased the APC’s N100 million Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for President Jonathan.
But Ikechukwu Ani, the former president’s media aide issued a statement distancing him from the coalition’s action.
