Governor Abdullahi Sule has formally endorsed Senator Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor and presented him to President Bola Tinubu as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state.
Sule led Wadada to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, reinforcing his earlier endorsement and signaling efforts to consolidate party support ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor had previously announced Wadada as his choice during a meeting with political appointees in Lafia, noting that the selection process spanned over a year and involved extensive consultations with stakeholders across the state.
Speaking on the broader political strategy, Sule said: “Now is the period of Muje Maha, and Muja Muha is Sen. Wadada.
“Muje Maha will be the senators we are going to select, Maje Muha will be the House of Representatives (members) that we are going to select, and the House of Assembly members we are also going to select.”
“Muje Maha” is a trending slogan and phrase, particularly popular in Northern Nigeria, which generally translates from Hausa as “Let’s go”, or “Let’s follow”.
It is used to express loyalty to a political leader.
The governor explained that consultations cut across party leaders, traditional rulers, youth and women groups, investors, and stakeholders from the three senatorial zones before arriving at a final decision.
Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the Senate and chairs the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, defected to the APC in 2025, a move that strengthened his political positioning within the ruling party.
The presentation to Tinubu is widely seen as a strategic step to secure federal backing and unify party structures in Nasarawa as political alignments intensify ahead of the next general election cycle.
