The Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (LAMIST) said it has completed the first phase of a project to reduce Internet connectivity costs.

The Commissioner of LAMIST, Olatunbosun Alake, disclosed this while enumerating his ministry's accomplishments at the 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing on Monday.

Alake stated that the state has installed 2700 kilometers of fiber conduit.

“Phase II of the project comprises an additional 3,300km of unified fiber ducts being laid across the state," he said.

“We will utilize the duct to bring down the cost of internet connectivity in the state.”

Alake added that the government was constructing a tier 3 data center in collaboration with the business sector to improve the state's infrastructure and data capacity and make it easier for citizens to get government services.
