ADC Releases Timetable for 2026 Primaries Ahead of 2027 Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, outlining key dates and procedures for the nomination of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the schedule underscores its commitment to internal democracy, transparency and compliance with electoral laws.

According to the timetable, the collection of application forms began on April 1 and will end on May 4, while the sale of nomination forms is scheduled for May 5 to May 10.

Submission of completed forms will take place from May 11 to May 13.

The party said screening of aspirants will be conducted from May 14 to May 15, with results to be published on May 17.

Appeals are expected to hold between May 18 and May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.

Primary elections will commence on May 21, beginning with contests for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats at the ward level.

Governorship primaries are slated for May 22, while the presidential primary will take place on May 25.

The process will be followed by a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27 for final ratification of candidates.

The ADC also announced a structured fee regime for nomination forms, pegging the presidential form at 100 million naira, governorship at 50 million naira, Senate at 20 million naira, House of Representatives at 10 million naira, and State House of Assembly at 3 million naira.

To encourage broader participation, the party approved a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent discount for women and persons with disabilities.

The party urged members, stakeholders and aspirants to strictly adhere to the timetable and guidelines as it positions itself for the 2027 elections, adding that it aims to provide a platform for competent and accountable leadership.
