FC Barcelona has expressed condolences to club legend Lionel Messi following the death of his father, Jorge Messi.
The club’s president and board of directors, on behalf of the Barcelona family, offered their sympathies to the Messi family and paid tribute to Jorge Messi’s role in his son’s football career.
Barcelona thanked Jorge Messi for entrusting the club with the early years of Lionel Messi’s career, which produced some of the most successful periods in the club’s history.
Jorge Messi was closely involved in his son’s development before Lionel Messi went on to become one of Barcelona’s greatest players.
“May he rest in peace,” the club said in a statement.
