The Nigerian government has declared December 26 and 27, and January 2, 2023, as public holidays.

The holidays are in celebration of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day respectively.

The ministry of interior announced the holidays in a statement signed by the permanent secretary, Belgore Shuaib, on Friday.

The statement encouraged Christians to “imbibe the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness.

It also asked the believers to pray for an end to insecurity in Nigeria.
