Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has resigned from his membership of the House.
His resignation letter was read during plenary on Wednesday by the Speaker of the 10th Assembly, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas.
Gbajabiamila said he was quitting to assume his new role as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
He was appointed to the position on 2 June but was expected to start work on Tuesday 15 June.
He was a member of the House of Representatives for 20 years and was the speaker from 2019 to 2023.
Before then, he served as the minority whip, the minority leader, and the majority leader.
