Rivers State governor Siminalayi Fubara is yet to withdraw his lawsuit against the Rivers House of Assembly, three days after a peace meeting in Abuja.

A list of resolutions reached at the Monday meeting brokered by President Bola Tinubu at State House Abuja included the withdrawal of all suits relating to the political crisis in Rivers State.

But when the governor's lawsuit seeking to restrain the Assembly from impeaching him came up at the High Court of Rivers State sitting at Isiokpo on Wednesday, his lawyer, D. O. Okoro, told the court that he did not have his client's instructions to withdraw the matter.

The lawyer to the House of Assembly, Ferdinand Orbih, informed the court that he had his client’s instruction to withdraw the matter from court because of the agreement reached by the parties in the suit.

Justice Ben-Whyte directed the governor’s lawyer to confer with his client concerning the recent development.

The case was adjourned to 31 January 2024 for a report of settlement.
