Kebbi High Court Judge Abducted by Suspected Bandits

A judge of the Kebbi State High Court, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits after they attacked his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday along Zogirma Road in Bunza town, shortly after the judge returned from an official trip to Sokoto.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen stormed his residence, fired several gunshots into the air and whisked him away.

No other occupant of the house was injured during the attack.

Confirming the incident, the Kebbi State Police Command said it received a report of the abduction around midnight.

Police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, said Commissioner of Police Umar Muhammad Hadejia had ordered the immediate deployment of tactical and intelligence teams to rescue the judge.

According to the police, security operatives are combing identified locations, including nearby forests, in a bid to secure Justice Bunza's safe release.

Officials of the Kebbi State High Court also confirmed the incident and said they had met with security agencies to coordinate efforts toward his rescue.

As of the time of filing this report, no group had claimed responsibility for the abduction and no ransom demand had been reported.
