The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, says the military is facing intense pressure to compromise the 2023 general election.

On Thursday, Irabor addressed the ministerial media briefing organized by the presidential communications team at the presidential villa, saying that the military will remain neutral and assist all security agencies in monitoring the election process.

Irabor noted that military personnel are being trained to be more professional while carrying out their engagement before, during and after the elections.

According to him, the military will do all it can to ensure it maintains neutrality, as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on the allegation by Reuters on forcing illegal abortions on female victims of the war, the Chief of Defence Staff debunked the allegation but said there still exists internal sabotage within the military but asserts that they have not succeeded.
