Ministerial Appointments Leave Two House of Reps Seats Vacant

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has declared two seats vacant in the House.

They are those of Tanko Sunono, whom President Bola Tinubu appointed as the Minister of State for Education, and Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the new Minister of Interior.

Representative Abbas read their formal resignation letters, at plenary on Tuesday and beckoned on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize bye-elections for their respective constituencies.

The two former lawmakers were screened as ministers after being nominated by President Bola Tinubu.

Sunono represented the Yauri/Shanta/Ngaski Federal Constituency of Kebbi State, while Bunmi-Ojo was the lawmaker for Akoko North East/Akoko North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State.
