The National Assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary by two weeks, moving the date from Sept. 15 to Sept. 29, 2026.

Clerk to the National Assembly Kamoru Ogunlana announced the change in a statement Wednesday, saying the decision was taken at the direction of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

Ogunlana said the extension would allow ongoing rehabilitation work in the Senate and House chambers to be completed.

“The National Assembly has shifted its resumption of plenary session from Tuesday, 15th September to Tuesday, 29th September 2026,” the statement said.

The clerk urged senators and members of the House of Representatives to take note of the new date and adjust their legislative engagements accordingly.

The postponement means lawmakers will spend an additional two weeks away from plenary as work continues on the chambers.
