The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd., has rejected allegations of poor performance and impropriety against its management, saying crude oil and gas production have increased under Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari.
The company was reacting to claims by the Oil and Gas Professionals Forum, which called for an investigation into NNPC’s leadership and questioned its production performance, licensing procedures and contract awards.
NNPC also clarified that it has no power to conduct oil licensing rounds or allocate oil blocks, saying those responsibilities belong to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission under the Petroleum Industry Act.
The national oil company said average crude oil production, including condensate, rose from 1.60 million barrels per day in April 2025 to 1.67 million barrels per day in April 2026, representing about six per cent growth.
It added that average gas production increased from 7,354 million standard cubic feet per day to 7,729 million standard cubic feet per day within the same period.
NNPC urged industry stakeholders to rely on verifiable corporate and regulatory data when assessing its performance, while reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability.
