The National Population Commission (NPC) has reassured Nigerians that the 2023 National  Census would be credible, and reliable.

The commission’s chairman, Nasir Kwarra told a press conference in Calabar on Tuesday that the census is significant as it has international relevance.

He was represented by the NPC’s chairman of the Public Affairs Committee, Eyitayo Oyetunji.

“The world wants to know whether Nigeria is set to become the third most populous country in the world,” he said.

“You hear that Nigeria has the biggest market in Africa and so, whatever happens to its population is of interest to any serious-minded businessman and international organizations.

Nigeria is currently the sixth most populous country in the world and is projected to be in the top three by 2050.

Kwarra promised that the 2023 census would be apolitical.
