PRP National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has dismissed claims of a leadership crisis in the party, insisting he was “freely and fairly” elected at a national convention.
“There is only one PRP, one leadership, and one party,” Baba-Ahmed said. “We held a full-blown convention, and I won the election.”
He said the party remains united and ideologically driven, adding that it is officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“You can check the INEC website. My name is there as national chairman,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed rejected claims of factional leadership, describing rival assertions as illegitimate.
“We don’t have any crisis. Where issues arise, we resolve them through our structures,” he said.
He said the PRP is focused on reforms, security, economic recovery, and national restructuring ahead of the 2027 elections. “Our goal is to move Nigeria from the fringes to the center of progress,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed also defended the party’s ideology, saying it is rooted in justice, equity, and social welfare.
“We stand for the weak and the poor, and for equal opportunity,” he said.
