Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inspected a vandalised bridge pole at Vin-Niger, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Amuwo-Odofin, assuring residents that the structure remains safe.
Sanwo-Olu said the vandalised fittings had been excavated and removed by suspected vandals but stressed that the structural integrity of the bridge had not been compromised.
The governor warned that the state government would go after those responsible for the vandalism, including persons involved in buying and selling stolen public infrastructure materials.
He also expressed concern over the vandalism of infrastructure in Festac Town, including the destruction of drainage slabs and theft of iron rods.
Sanwo-Olu urged residents to protect public assets by reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.
He commended the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad, Neighbourhood Watch and Kick Against Indiscipline officials for their response to the incident.
The governor said the inspection formed part of ongoing efforts to clean up the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor, protect public infrastructure and improve safety for road users.
