Governor Chukwuma Soludo has presented a budget proposal of N260 billion before the Anambra State House of Assembly for 2023.
The draft estimate entitled Budget of Acceleration has a capital expenditure plan of N164.2 billion accounting for 63.2% of the total budget size, while the recurrent expenditure is N95.5 billion.
Governor Soludo said the budget will drive the disruptive changes and transformation he promised Ndi Anambra in his campaign manifesto, "The Soludo Solution: A people's manifesto."
He said his goal is to transform Anambra into a prosperous smart megacity and that the budget proposal captures the five pillars of his administration’s agenda.
The governor also disclosed that the Anambra State government was yet to borrow the N100 billion loan approved by the House of Assembly earlier in 2022.
He, however, said he had applied for N90 billion of the loan, which is expected to be paid in a few weeks and rolled into the 2023 financing plan.
The loan request was approved for the building and rehabilitation of roads across Anambra State.
After the budget presentation, the Speaker of the House, Uche Okafor, lauded Governor Soludo’s governance of Anambra and assured him of the support and collaboration of the House of Assembly.
