Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Kautikari Village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one resident and setting part of a secondary school on fire.
The attack reportedly targeted Government Day Secondary School, where a block containing five classrooms and a staff office was destroyed.
The Education Secretary of Chibok Local Government Area, Malah Kyari, confirmed that the affected structure was the Junior Secondary School block.
The Borno State Police Command said security operatives responded to the attack and successfully repelled the assailants.
Police authorities added that the situation has been brought under control, with intensified patrols ongoing to prevent further attacks.
Local sources said the incident caused panic in the community, forcing several residents to flee their homes in search of safety.
Security agencies have continued efforts to secure the area as residents assess the damage caused by the attack.
