The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga 132-kilovolt transmission line after completing the reconstruction of three transmission towers that collapsed following heavy rainfall and strong winds earlier in October.
The company said the reconstruction of towers T78, T79 and T80 was completed at 5:31 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, restoring the transmission pathway serving the 132/33-kilovolt Keffi and Akwanga transmission stations.
The three towers collapsed on October 7, 2026, after heavy rainfall and strong winds affected the transmission infrastructure. TCN subsequently deployed its maintenance crew to rebuild the damaged structures and restore the affected line.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the company confirmed that the reconstruction had been completed and the transmission line restored, marking the end of the repair work on the affected section.
The Karu-Keffi-Akwanga transmission line forms part of the infrastructure used to convey bulk electricity through the national transmission network to transmission stations serving the area. The restoration of the line returns the affected transmission pathway to service.
TCN said the reconstruction was carried out by its maintenance crew as part of efforts to restore the damaged infrastructure following the collapse of the towers.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining and strengthening the national transmission network to support the reliable and efficient transmission of bulk electricity across Nigeria.
However, the announcement did not specify whether the tower collapse had resulted in electricity supply interruptions for consumers served by the affected transmission stations or provide details of the cost of the reconstruction.
