The residence of the chairman of the Atiku Presidential Council in Rivers State, Senator Lee Meaba, was attacked in the early hours of Thursday.

The senator said the attackers whom he believes are political scaled through the fence into his compound, tied up his security guard, destroyed four vehicles, and shot sporadically.

They assaulted his elder brother and tried to enter the main building in the compound as they shout ‘where is Senator Lee Meaba’ and ‘one bullet will solve all these Atiku problems’, the senator said.

Before the attack, Senator Meaba said he received a call from a young man with a strange number who told him to be careful if he was at home as there was an instruction to attack him.

According to Senator Meaba, the young man said he called because he (Meaba) had done him a favor before.

Efforts to contact the Rivers State Commissioner of Police and the director of the State Security Service were unsuccessful, the senator said.

The police commissioner, Okon Effiong, however, sent two officers to his residence for an after-attack assessment.
