Tuesday afternoon, social media went agog with many persons posting the inscription ‘JESUS’ on all platforms. Many others changed their display picture to ‘JESUS’.

Hence, ‘JESUS’ trended all Tuesday and into Wednesday on all social media platforms, especially Twitter.

It started when popular Nigerian gospel musician, Nathaniel Bassey put out a tweet urging people to make the name of ‘JESUS’ their display picture at noon.

His follow-up tweet showed that his call was connected to the killing of dozens of people at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state on Sunday.

The official handle of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christain Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye was one of the ones that had a tweet in solidarity with Nathaniel Bassey.

And then the Deeper Life Bible Church.

Other Twitter users have been tweeting using the hashtag #JESUS

Meanwhile, some Twitter users pointed out that ‘JESUS’ won’t vote for Nigerians in the 2023 General Election hence the need for citizens to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and cast their ballots.

@lauraoko responded by acknowledging but asking such users to let those posting the Jesus image and hashtag to do so in peace.
