Troops Rescue Seven Kidnap Victims Along Plateau Highway

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued seven travellers abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Riyom highway in Plateau State.

The victims were rescued on Monday night after troops responded to a distress call near Sopp village in Riyom Local Government Area. The military team found an abandoned vehicle on the road and launched a search operation in the surrounding bushes.

The kidnappers reportedly fled after encountering the troops, leaving behind their captives. The rescued victims, including a police officer identified as ASP Babagida Ishaku, were found unharmed.

The victims told troops they were travelling from Akwanga in Nasarawa State to Jos when they were intercepted and taken by the gunmen.

Operation Enduring Peace says efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, as security patrols continue across Plateau State.
