Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal for re-election in the 2027 general elections, following a high-level meeting in Gusau.
The endorsement was announced at a stakeholders’ gathering held Saturday at the Government House, which brought together former governors Ahmed Sani Yarima, Mahmuda Shinkafi, Abdul’aziz Yari and Bello Matawalle, alongside party leaders, elected officials, and representatives from all 14 local government areas.
Governor Lawal said his administration’s alignment with the APC was a “strategic move” to strengthen governance and deepen cooperation with the federal government under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Our decision to join the APC was not just political but a strategic move to support Zamfara’s repositioning,” Lawal said.
“It positions us to work with the Federal Government, leverage national initiatives, and contribute to the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He said his administration’s “Rescue Mission” remains focused on restoring stability, rebuilding institutions and improving security in the state.
Lawal also urged political actors to manage expectations as the 2027 election cycle approaches, stressing discipline, fairness and internal democracy within the party.
“Leadership is not defined solely by positions,” he said. “Political relevance comes from serving, influencing, and contributing to the state’s development.”
He added that his administration would continue to prioritize “fairness, equity and justice” in political and governance decisions.
Former governors at the meeting pledged support for both Tinubu and Lawal, describing the gathering as a step toward strengthening party unity and coordination ahead of the elections.
A communiqué issued after the meeting, read by Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, said discussions focused on party unity, governance, security concerns and preparations for the 2027 polls.
The stakeholders said the APC remains committed to consolidating its political structure in Zamfara ahead of the next election cycle.
