The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections, clearing 4,408 candidates to contest Senate and House of Representatives seats.

The list contains 1,195 candidates for the Senate and 3,213 for the House of Representatives, according to an analysis of the documents published by the electoral commission.

For the Senate, 1,080 candidates are men while 115 are women. The House of Representatives list has 2,885 men and 328 women.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) fielded the highest number of female candidates, with 11 contesting Senate seats and 42 seeking election to the House of Representatives.

INEC’s release follows the publication of the final list of presidential and vice-presidential candidates on Saturday.

The commission listed 18 presidential candidates for the election.

President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress are among those cleared to contest the presidential election.

The presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for 16th January, 2027, while governorship and state House of Assembly elections will take place on 6th February, 2027.

The final candidate list is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections and follows the statutory processes for party nominations and candidate substitutions.
