The Independent National Electoral Commission has opened its online portal for Nigerians interested in working as ad hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.
INEC said the Personnel Recruitment System, known as INECPRES, was activated at 8 a.m. 18th September and will close at midnight 18th November.
The commission is recruiting Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.
INEC said eligibility depends on the position.
Potential applicants include serving NYSC members, eligible tertiary institution students, public servants, former corps members and qualified ICT personnel.
For Presiding Officer and Assistant Presiding Officer positions, applicants may include serving corps members, penultimate students of federal or state tertiary institutions with IT knowledge, and certain public servants.
Supervisory Presiding Officers must generally be public or civil servants on Grade Level 10-14, while Registration Area Centre Managers must be heads of schools or eligible staff of institutions hosting registration centres.
Applicants for technical support positions must have an IT background and meet INEC's specific requirements.
The commission said applicants, except those applying for some technical positions, must live in the state they select.
It also requires applicants to be politically neutral.
They must not belong to a political party or have demonstrated support for a candidate or party.
INEC has said it plans to deploy about 1.4 million ad hoc personnel across more than 176,000 polling units for the 2027 elections.
The commission's recruitment notice said, “The online application will be available on the INEC website via the link inecnigeria.org.”
INEC has previously warned Nigerians about fake recruitment websites and urged applicants to use only its official platforms.
The official INECPRES portal currently lists 18th November 2026, as the application deadline.
