The Independent National Electoral Commission has reminded eligible Nigerians that the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise will end on Sunday, urging those yet to register or complete their registration to do so before the deadline.
The commission issued the reminder on Saturday, stressing that no further extension would be granted after the registration window closes.
The exercise, which began earlier this year, was extended to 26th July to allow more eligible citizens to register ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
INEC called on prospective voters to take advantage of the final hours of the exercise at registration centres nationwide.
“The Continuous Voter Registration exercise ends on Sunday,” the commission said, urging Nigerians to “visit the nearest registration centre to complete your registration before the deadline.”
It also reminded applicants who began the process online that they must appear in person at designated centres to complete their biometric capture before they can be added to the voters’ register.
The electoral body said the registration exercise is part of efforts to ensure that every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to participate in the 2027 elections.
It has repeatedly encouraged first-time voters, citizens who have turned 18, those seeking transfers of registration, and voters requiring corrections or replacements of damaged or lost Permanent Voter Cards to use the exercise.
The voter registration drive forms part of INEC's timetable for the 2027 general elections, which has already entered an active phase with political parties preparing for forthcoming electoral activities.
The commission urged Nigerians not to wait until the final hours before visiting registration centres, warning that late rushes could result in delays.
It reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a credible electoral process, saying broad voter participation remains essential to strengthening Nigeria's democracy.
