The new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Segun Aina, has resolved more than 5,000 pending complaints from candidates within five days.
JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this Sunday in a statement in Abuja.
Benjamin said Aina strengthened the Board’s Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) Unit and moved his office there to get first-hand knowledge of the problems facing candidates and other clients.
He said the move was part of Aina’s “Five Enduring Pillars,” particularly the second pillar, “Service at Heart.”
The registrar also directed SERVICOM Desk Officers to handle complaints “holistically and promptly,” Benjamin said.
The complaints included difficulties creating profile codes for candidates who no longer had access to the phone numbers used during earlier registrations.
Other cases involved biometric verification failures during Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration or the examination, as well as problems with JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System.
Benjamin said the Board also addressed cases involving lost phones and SIM cards, candidates who changed from Direct Entry to UTME and graduates omitted from the National Matriculation List.
Payment problems, e-PIN issues, inappropriate examination venues, technical difficulties and challenges uploading documents were also resolved.
Complaints involving changes to names, dates of birth, states and local government areas of origin were addressed as well.
Benjamin said the initiative showed Aina’s commitment to placing candidates at the centre of JAMB’s operations.
He said the Board would continue to strengthen its complaint-resolution system so candidates could receive “timely and efficient services.”
The intervention comes as Aina begins his tenure with a focus on improving JAMB’s relationship with candidates and ensuring services are commensurate with the fees they pay.
