Lagos APC Accuses ADC Of Political Suicide Over Leadership Crisis

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of creating its own leadership crisis, describing the situation as a case of “political suicide”.

The party's spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, made the accusation in a statement on Saturday, November 7, 2026, arguing that the ADC's internal disagreements and failure to follow established procedures were responsible for its current predicament.

Oladejo said the recent Federal High Court judgment nullifying the Senator David Mark-led interim leadership structure had exposed the legal and political consequences of the party's unresolved leadership dispute.

He said the ruling had also created uncertainty around the ADC's preparations for the 2027 elections, including the process that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.

The APC spokesman faulted ADC leaders for blaming the ruling party and questioning the judiciary instead of addressing the internal disagreements that led to the crisis.

He argued that the dispute originated from an internal party case instituted by a stakeholder, Nafiu Bala Gombe, and should not be blamed on the APC.

Oladejo also criticised the ADC's reported threat of nationwide protests against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), saying political pressure could not replace legal processes or compel independent institutions to act outside the law.

He maintained that political parties must respect their constitutions, established procedures and judicial decisions, adding that the ADC should pursue its legal options if it disagrees with the court ruling.

The Lagos APC spokesman said Nigeria needed an opposition that was organised, internally democratic and committed to the rule of law, rather than one constantly embroiled in internal disputes.

He added that the APC remained committed to democratic competition and was prepared to engage opposition parties through policies, performance and electoral persuasion.
