The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has arrested 130 suspected hoodlums during a crackdown on criminal activities and environmental offences across the state.
The agency said the arrests were made during operations aimed at restoring order and protecting residents and road users.
Officials said the suspects were picked up at different locations following reports of activities linked to street violence, harassment and other forms of disorder.
The agency said the operation was part of the Lagos State Government’s wider effort to improve safety and maintain law and order in communities.
It also warned that people involved in activities that threaten public safety would face the law.
The agency urged residents to cooperate with officials and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
The crackdown comes amid continuing security operations across Lagos.
Police authorities have also intensified efforts against suspected criminals and cult groups in the state.
The Zone 2 Police Command recently arrested three suspected cultists operating between Lagos and Ogun states and recovered a locally made double-barrel, cut-to-size pistol.
Police said the operation followed information from a member of the public about suspected cult activities in Ikorodu and surrounding areas.
The police said the suspects would be prosecuted after investigations are completed.
Authorities have repeatedly called on Lagos residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious people or activities to security agencies.
The latest arrests highlight the state government’s continued push to tackle street crime and other activities considered a threat to public safety.
