The White House has launched a 24-hour streaming channel called “Trump TV”, as major American television networks suspend shared coverage of President Donald Trump.
The channel, officially titled “TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station”, features videos, past speeches, announcements and highlights from the administration.
It is available through the White House website and its YouTube channel.
Announcing the launch on Monday, the White House said the stream would be updated in real time, bringing together the administration’s “biggest moments” and other content.
The launch comes amid a dispute over the administration’s decision to bar CNN, Politico and MS NOW from White House grounds.
The three organisations have filed a lawsuit challenging the restrictions.
ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC subsequently suspended their shared White House television pool coverage in solidarity with the affected outlets.
The pool system allows broadcasters to take turns filming presidential events and sharing footage with other news organisations.
CNN had been scheduled to provide Monday’s pool coverage, but was unable to do so after the ban.
The White House has defended its approach to media access, while Trump has criticised what he describes as unfair or “fake news” reporting.
The new streaming service gives the administration a direct platform to distribute footage of the president and its activities without relying solely on television networks.
The dispute has raised fresh questions about press access and the relationship between the administration and major news organisations.
