The Adewole Adebayo-Bugaje Presidential Campaign Council of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) says four years is enough to rescue Nigeria from corruption, insecurity, poverty and poor governance if the country elects a focused leader in 2027.
The campaign made the claim at a press conference in Abuja, where its Chief Communications Adviser, Mark Adebayo, said Nigerians should assess presidential candidates based on their ideas, preparedness, integrity and ability to deliver measurable results.
Mark said the campaign’s policy blueprint, Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity, contains four-year plans covering security, the economy, energy, education, agriculture, health care, housing, infrastructure and foreign relations.
“Forty years is not enough time for corrupt leaders to stop milking a country dry, but four years is more than enough for a focused leader to rescue his people,” he said.
He described candidate Adewole Adebayo and the Social Democratic Party as a third-force alternative to the two dominant political blocs, which he called “Siamese Twins.”
Mark also challenged other presidential candidates to participate in open debates, saying Adebayo was ready to discuss the economy, technology, agriculture, security, education, foreign affairs and other national issues.
“My principal, Adewole Adebayo is ready to debate any presidential candidate even at a moment’s notice,” he said.
The campaign also criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu over poverty, insecurity, hunger and the number of out-of-school children.
“President Tinubu knows and all Nigerians know that in a free, fair and credible election, he will lose in a landslide in 2027,” Mark said.
The campaign said an Adebayo government would recover allegedly stolen public funds and strengthen anti-corruption agencies.
It also proposed the construction of at least three million affordable housing units across Nigeria within four years.
