Chelsea FC have parted company with head coach Liam Rosenior following a run of poor results.

The club confirmed the decision in an official statement on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to Rosenior and his staff for their efforts during their time in charge.

Chelsea noted that the former coach conducted himself with professionalism and integrity after taking over midway through the season, but said performances had fallen below the required standard.

The club added that the decision was not taken lightly, especially with key fixtures still remaining in the campaign.

Calum McFarlane has been appointed interim head coach until the end of the season and is expected to take immediate charge of the team’s upcoming fixtures, supported by the existing backroom staff.

Chelsea say the immediate focus is to secure European qualification and continue their progress in the FA Cup.

The club also confirmed it will begin a process to appoint a permanent head coach, describing the move as part of efforts to bring stability to the role.
